BALTIMORE, Md. (WBFF) — A man killed outside a northwest Baltimore gas station Saturday is the stepson of a local attorney, family said.
Police were called to the BP on Garrison Blvd just before 1 a.m.. There officers found Cody Young, 22, with gunshot wounds. Young was rushed to the hospital, where he later died.
On Sunday, Fox 45 spoke with Young’s stepfather Warren Brown. Brown is a well-known attorney in Baltimore.
“This young man was not part of the game,” said Brown. “He was not part of the streets. He was not someone who deserved what happened to him.”
On Sunday detectives released surveillance video that shows the moments leading up to the shooting. The video shows what investigators described as a silver Volkswagen pull into the gas station. Seconds later, two suspects jump out of the car and open fire. It appears one suspect has his face and head covered. According to police, Young was shot multiple times.
Baltimore Police are saying little about a motive in the case.
On Sunday Fox 45 went to the neighborhood where Cody lived in northwest Baltimore. His mother was too emotional to go on camera but shared several pictures of her only son.
One photograph captured the mother and son embracing one another. Another, just after he finished a football game.
Family said Cody loved all sports, but especially had a passion for football. His mother told Fox 45 he played for schools across the country during his time in high school and college.
Other relatives said Cody had a heart of gold and deeply loved his family.
“They (suspects) have made his mother suffer,” said Brown. “They have made a lot of people suffer.”
Brown is now offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for Cody’s death. Brown said a number of other, local attorneys are offering to add to the reward. He expects to release more details Monday.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
